Pleasant meeting with the “Manos de Lota” group: Presentation of the program and the importance of territorial participation

On Thursday, August 10th, the CreaSur team met with the artisan group “Manos de Lota”. The meeting aimed to present them with the program “International Strategies for the Transformation of Industrial Heritage into Regional Assets”, developed in collaboration with NudiSur and funded by the Regional Government of Biobío.

Furthermore, the day was marked by the dissemination and generation of ideas regarding heritage and industrial tourism in the commune. This is part of the itinerary for the congress that will take place from October 16th to 20th, within the framework of the program.

In the same vein, during the meeting, the artisans showcased various art pieces created through their respective disciplines, with the purpose of having the organization, founded in 2011, participate in an art exhibition during the congress.

“For us, it’s super important to showcase what we do here with our own hands. Selling our crafts is challenging, and we make them with a lot of dedication. Sometimes it takes me up to 15 days to create a piece,” said Ruth López, artisan and member of “Manos de Lota”.

To conclude the meeting, the artisans emphasized the importance of preserving industrial cultural heritage. “When someone takes one of our works, they don’t just take a memory, they take a piece of Lota with them in that piece,” emphasized Jazmína Hidalgo, member of “Manos de Lota”.
