Goals of the
fourth congress
The Fourth International and Interdisciplinary Cultural Heritage Congress “Industrial Heritage, Social Issues and Challenges for a New Governance” is an initiative of the Creasur Cultural Center, supported by the Southern Research Center (Nudisur) and with funding granted by the Biobío Regional Government through its “International Strategies for the Transformation of Industrial Heritage into Regional Assets” program. Our goals are to position the region’s cultural and industrial heritage as a transformative engine for sustainable regional development.
We wish to highlight the importance of the industrial heritage as a living testimony of the history and culture of the Biobío Region. Through the experiences shared by experts at the national and international levels, we seek to increase awareness and the appreciation of this unique cultural wealth.
We believe that industrial heritage requires a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional perspective to be properly understood and preserved. Our congress provides a meeting place where academics, professionals and communities can join forces, sharing knowledge and approaches from various disciplines.
The congress is proposed as a place of generation of ideas and concrete proposals. Heritage experts from around the world will present innovative solutions and effective strategies to boost regional development based on industrial heritage. The intention is to inspire tangible actions and collaborative projects.
The congress will serve as a platform for strengthening collaboration between the academic world, national and international organizations, public service and local communities. We want to establish lasting links that promote the conservation and sustainable use of industrial heritage as a resource for the integral development of the region.
By promoting the social valuation and use of the industrial heritage, we aim to consolidate the regional identity of Biobío. We want the people of the region to recognize and be proud of their industrial heritage and to understand it as a key asset in building a promising future.
